lyrics
I knew the Sisters lay there waiting by that little stream where we met when i was travelling through the forest in the rain
and as the sun was approaching I had nothing left to say
so i put my letter on the desk and when i left that morning she was sleeping like a stone.
Many years it seemed to take from my life when i was dreaming
naked, mortal, almost decaying
but loved and the most beautiful thing
is i was home
the sisters were like fountains and my eyes like wells, pouring holy water into my soul.
we lived together and danced freely like children splashing in a stream
washing our linens and sheets in the rain
but we grew old and we laughed with it for time had not forbade the seasons to change.
the pain that was growing had all but gone away
it seemed my childhood had been waiting in old age
but the sisters were older and when they slowly died
i laid there waiting each day i cried
drinking from their fountain i knew it was'nt the end
but the beginning to see them again
so i left that morning
sleeping like a stone.
